8-Day Uganda Gorilla & Chimp Safari

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Our representative meets you and transfers you to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala for the night. Rest and briefing ahead of the safari.

Transfer to Entebbe Airport for an early morning charter flight to Kasese (approx. 1 hr), then drive to Kibale National Park (approx. 2 hrs). Alternatively, drive the full distance (approx. 5–6 hrs) via Fort Portal. Arrive and settle in to your forest lodge for lunch. Afternoon walk in the forest or nature trail.

Rise early for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park: home to the highest density of primates in Africa. After a park briefing, your ranger guides you through the lush forest in search of habituated chimpanzee communities. The experience can take 2–6 hours depending on chimp movement. The afternoon is spent at leisure in the lodge.

After breakfast, drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving by midday. Check in and have lunch. Afternoon game drive through the Kasenyi Plains in search of the park's famous residents: lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, buffalos and a spectacular array of bird life.

Morning game drive across the open savannah. After lunch, embark on a Kazinga Channel boat safari: one of Uganda's finest wildlife experiences. The channel connects Lakes Edward and George and teems with hippos, crocodiles, elephants drinking at the bank and an extraordinary variety of water birds. Return to camp for a sundowner and dinner.

Early morning drive to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP: the only place in the world where lions regularly climb fig trees. Game drive in the remote southern sector, then drive south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive by late afternoon and check in to your forest lodge. Dinner and early night ahead of the gorilla trek.

The centrepiece of the Uganda safari. After an early breakfast and park ranger briefing, enter the ancient forest in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families. The trek can take 2–6 hours through dense jungle depending on gorilla movement. Once found, spend a precious hour in the presence of these magnificent great apes. Return to camp for lunch and a celebratory dinner.

After breakfast, drive to Entebbe International Airport (approx. 8 hrs) or take a charter flight from Kihihi airstrip. Arrive in time for evening international departures. End of services.
