14-Day Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar Safari

Our guide meets you at JKIA on arrival and immediately departs for the Maasai Mara. Arrive by lunchtime and check in. Afternoon game drive from 3 to 6 p.m. as the sun turns the savannah gold.

Full-day game drives in one of Africa's greatest wildlife reserves. Track the Big Five, cheetah and wild dog. Picnic lunch by the Mara River. Possible wildebeest river crossing (July–October). Optional: hot air balloon at dawn.

After breakfast, cross into Tanzania via the Isebania/Sirari border with packed lunch (7–8 hr journey) or charter a flight from the Mara airstrip (approx. $658/person). Arrive in the Serengeti and begin an evening game drive en route to camp.

Full-day game drives in the central Serengeti. Africa's Big Five, plus cheetah, wild dog and a phenomenal density of plains game. Explore the Seronera River valley: one of the best leopard-watching circuits in East Africa. Picnic lunch in the field.

Drive north or west depending on wildebeest movement. In season the western corridor's Grumeti River delivers crocodile-laden crossings rivalling those at the Mara. Sundowner on the kopjes at dusk: an iconic Serengeti moment.

Morning drive, then journey east through the NCA highlands toward the Ngorongoro crater rim. Stop at Olduvai Gorge museum. Arrive at the crater rim lodge for dinner with sweeping views into the caldera.

Descend into the crater with picnic lunches for a full day game drive on the caldera floor. The 260 km² crater contains the highest density of big predators in Africa. Black rhino, lion, buffalo, elephant and a vast flamingo colony on the soda lake await.

After breakfast, check out of the crater rim lodge and drive east to Tarangire National Park. Arrive with a game drive en route. Elephant herds in Tarangire are among the largest in Africa: over 3,000 elephants inhabit the park.

Morning and afternoon game drives in Tarangire National Park. Beyond the elephants, the park has resident lion, leopard, wild dog and over 550 bird species. The ancient baobab silhouettes at sunset are some of the most photographed scenes in Africa.

After breakfast, drive to Arusha Airport (ARK) for your scheduled afternoon flight to Zanzibar (ZNZ). Arrive at Abeid Amani Karume Airport and transfer to your beachfront resort. Check in and relax: the Indian Ocean is yours.

A free day to enjoy the pristine beaches of Zanzibar. Snorkel on the coral reef, kayak in the turquoise lagoon, or simply unwind under a palm tree. Optional excursions: Stone Town UNESCO city tour, Safari Blue dhow sailing trip, Prison Island tortoise sanctuary.

Another day at leisure on the island. Consider a dolphin excursion to Kizimkazi at dawn, a sunset dhow cruise, or a spice farm tour in the island's interior. The island's Swahili cuisine: seafood grilled over coconut shell charcoal: is an experience in itself.

Your final full day in Zanzibar. Explore the narrow lanes of Stone Town in the morning, visiting the old Arab fort, Forodhani night market, or the Palace Museum. Return to the beach for a final Indian Ocean sunset.

After a leisurely breakfast, check out and transfer to Abeid Amani Karume Airport for your onward flight. Your 14-day East Africa journey comes to a memorable close.
