6 Days Maasai Mara & Amboseli Safari by Flight

Morning transfer to Wilson Airport for your scenic flight to Amboseli. Land at Amboseli's grass airstrip with Kilimanjaro towering overhead. Met by your guide, you'll transfer straight to your lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive across the park's open plains and swamp edges: the elephant families are often concentrated here in the afternoon light with the mountain as backdrop.

A full day in Amboseli from dawn to dusk. Morning drives are superb: Kilimanjaro is often cloud-free at first light and the elephant herds gather at the swamp as the sun rises. Observation Hill provides a sweeping 360-degree view of the park: elephants, buffalo, and wildebeest spread across the floodplains. Afternoon drive targeting cheetah and lion in the open acacia woodlands.

Early morning game drive in Amboseli: a final farewell to Kilimanjaro and the great elephant herds. Return to the airstrip for your scenic flight west to the Maasai Mara (approx. 1 hr), flying over the Chyulu Hills and Loita Plains. Arrive in the Mara by midday, check in, and start your first afternoon game drive in Africa's greatest wildlife reserve.

A full day of game drives in the Mara. Morning focus on predators: the Mara's lions are abundant and the cheetahs of the Mara Triangle are legendary. Picnic lunch by the Mara River: hippos surfacing, crocodiles on the bank, and the constant traffic of wildebeest (seasonal). Afternoon drive into the heart of the reserve. Optional hot air balloon at dawn.

Another full day in the Mara. Explore different sectors of the reserve: the Ol Kinyei, Mara North, or Naboisho conservancies if your camp has access, offering exclusive wildlife encounters with fewer vehicles. Visit a Maasai boma in the afternoon to learn about traditional lifestyle and warrior culture. Sundowner drinks on an elevated kopje with the plains below.

Final sunrise game drive before breakfast. Transfer to the airstrip for your scenic flight back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi (45 min). End of services.
