Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Arusha – Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approx. 2 hrs)
Meet your driver at Kilimanjaro International Airport or your Arusha hotel. Drive west through coffee highlands to the Ngorongoro crater rim. Arrive in the afternoon for lunch with panoramic views over the caldera. Afternoon at leisure on the rim: cool, forested and spectacularly scenic.
Day 2Ngorongoro Crater: Full Day
Descend 600 m into the world's most famous wildlife arena for a full day game drive. Expect black rhino, elephant, lion, hippo, wildebeest and flamingo in astonishing concentrations. Picnic lunch at the hippo pool. Ascend to the rim in late afternoon.
Day 3Ngorongoro – Serengeti (approx. 3 hrs)
Morning drive through the NCA highlands, with a stop at Olduvai Gorge. Enter the Serengeti and head to the Seronera valley for afternoon game drives. The Seronera is the park's permanent wildlife heartland: lions are seen here virtually every game drive.
Day 4Serengeti Full Day: then fly to Zanzibar
Early morning game drive in the Serengeti at first light: the best time for predator activity. Return to camp for breakfast, then drive or fly to Arusha airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar (Abeid Amani Karume International Airport). Arrive in Zanzibar, transfer to your beach resort on the north coast.
Day 5Zanzibar: Stone Town & Spice Tour
Morning guided tour of Stone Town: the UNESCO-listed old city with its Arab, Indian and Swahili architecture, bustling Darajani market, House of Wonders and the old slave market. Afternoon spice farm tour: taste vanilla, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon. Return to the beach resort for a beachside dinner.
Day 6Zanzibar: Beach & Ocean Day
Your day, your pace. Optional dolphin excursion at Kizimkazi, snorkelling over Mnemba Atoll's coral gardens, deep-sea fishing, a sunset dhow cruise, or simply relaxing on Nungwi's white sand. The Indian Ocean is warm year-round.
Day 7Zanzibar – Departure
Leisurely morning on the beach before checkout and transfer to Zanzibar airport for your onward flight. A perfect ending to a perfect Tanzanian week.

Last checked 9 October 2026: mainland Tanzania's mandatory inbound travel insurance began on 1 October 2026. Zanzibar has operated its own requirement since 1 October 2024. Eligible travellers must arrange the applicable policy before travel; your usual private travel insurance does not replace this entry requirement.
Your first Tanzanian arrival on this route is in mainland Tanzania. Use the official NIC portal to arrange the applicable policy before travel. One applicable, valid policy covers onward travel between the mainland and Zanzibar for the same insured journey; do not buy a second policy simply because this itinerary includes both.
Standard insurance rates are US$44 per adult aged 18 or over, US$22 per child aged 3–17, and free for ages 0–2, subject to the insurer's eligibility rules and checkout. Insurance age bands may differ from lodge child rates. Cover is for up to 92 days, with the actual dates shown on your certificate. Keep the certificate and QR code accessible throughout the trip.
Residents of EAC and SADC member states qualify for the mainland exemption under NIC's published rules. This is residence-based, not simply a passport exemption, and does not automatically exempt you in Zanzibar. Confirm eligibility and any Zanzibar requirement with the insurer before departure.
The government policy is purchased separately and excluded from this safari price. Keep comprehensive personal travel insurance suitable for your activities, medical needs, cancellation risks and other countries visited. Government cover has limits and exclusions; any separately arranged evacuation service does not replace it. Rules and rates can change, so recheck the official portals before travel.
