Your driver meets you at Hosea Kutako International Airport and takes you into Windhoek. Tonight is kept simple: settle into your hotel, have dinner and go through the flight plan with our representative. The overnight also gives us room to arrange the next morning's departure from Eros Airport without a rushed connection from your international flight.

After breakfast, transfer to Eros Airport for the flight south. The high ground around Windhoek gives way to open gravel plains and then the dune country of the Namib. A camp guide meets you at the airstrip. Have lunch, get your bearings, and head out for a late-afternoon nature drive if the flight timing allows. Stay outside a little after dinner: on a clear night, the stars are worth waiting for.

Set off early with your guide, at a time suited to your lodge's park access. Little Kulala has its own access gate; the other options follow their applicable gate arrangements. Choose a dune walk that feels right for you, then continue to Deadvlei, where dark camel-thorn trunks stand on pale clay with red sand rising behind them. There is no need to climb Big Daddy to enjoy the place. Return to camp for lunch and a quiet afternoon. A balloon flight, if you choose one, takes place at dawn and needs a separate place in the schedule.

The next flight takes you towards Damaraland, with any intermediate landing confirmed in your flight plan. Your afternoon follows the camp you have chosen. At Mowani, go out with a guide to Twyfelfontein and look closely at the animals engraved into the rock. At Desert Rhino Camp, settle into the Palmwag landscape and take an introductory drive if time allows. These camps explore different parts of Damaraland, so we do not squeeze both programmes into the same stay.

From Mowani, your guide follows the Huab and Aba-Huab river country in search of desert-adapted elephants. Fresh tracks, water and the animals' movements shape the drive. From Desert Rhino Camp, join the Save the Rhino Trust trackers as they search for black rhino, with an approach on foot when conditions and the tracking team allow. Walking distances vary. Lunch may be at camp or out during the activity, and the rest of the day follows how the outing unfolds.

Fly towards the northwestern coast, where fog can hide the sea until you are close to it. For Shipwreck Lodge, continue from the airstrip by road to cabins facing the Atlantic. For Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp, land inland and drive into the river valley. Once you have settled in, take a first camp activity if the arrival time allows. Pack a warm layer within reach: this stop can feel very different from the hot, dry places you have just left.

At Shipwreck Lodge, explore coastal dunes, river country and wreck remains with the lodge guides, choosing from the activities available during your stay. Hoanib's guides concentrate on the inland valley, looking for elephants, giraffe and smaller signs of life along the riverbed. Desert lions sometimes move through this country, but finding them is never certain. Hoanib's full-day trip to the shoreline normally needs a three-night stay; we can add that extra night if you want it in your itinerary.

Fly east to Ongava, beside Etosha National Park, and transfer to your lodge. The view now changes to woodland and open game country. After lunch, head out for a first drive in Etosha or on the Ongava reserve, according to the arrival time and lodge programme. Back at the lodge, leave some time to sit near the waterhole. Animals come and go on their own schedule, and watching from one spot can be a good way to finish the day.

Give today to Etosha's western and central waterholes, with your guide choosing the stops for the day's conditions. Okaukuejo, Nebrownii and Gemsbokvlakte are possibilities, alongside a look across the salt pan. In dry weather, animals gather at the water; after rain, the search spreads further out. Return to Ongava for the lodge's afternoon programme. A reserve drive or specialist rhino activity depends on your lodge and its current arrangements. Night drives take place only where permitted outside Etosha.

Have breakfast and, if the flight schedule leaves enough time, one final early drive. Then transfer to the airstrip for your return to Windhoek. We confirm the arrival airport and road transfer to Hosea Kutako around your onward flight, with a proper allowance for check-in. If the connection needs an overnight, we include that in the revised quote. Victoria Falls or the Okavango Delta can also follow this route as separately planned extensions.
