6 Days of Amboseli, Tsavo West, and Tsavo East

Depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive south to Amboseli (approx. 4 hrs). Arrive for lunch, then afternoon game drive across the swamps and open plains. Kilimanjaro dominates the horizon and the elephant families converge at the water as the afternoon light turns golden. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Full day of game drives in Amboseli. Morning drives are best for Kilimanjaro views: the mountain emerges from the clouds at dawn and the herds gather at the swamp edges with the peak behind them. Observation Hill at midday provides a perfect overview of the park. Afternoon drive targeting cheetah and lion, with vast herds of wildebeest and zebra on the open plains.

Morning drive in Amboseli, then drive west to Tsavo West (approx. 3 hrs). Tsavo is Kenya's largest national park: split into East and West, together covering 22,000 sq km. Arrive for lunch, then visit the famous Mzima Springs: a crystal-clear underground river emerging from volcanic rock, home to hippos and Nile crocodiles observable from an underwater viewing chamber. Evening game drive across the lava plains.

Full day in Tsavo West's diverse landscapes: volcanic cones, ancient lava flows, dense riverine forest, and open savanna. The Shetani lava fields are geologically extraordinary: 200 years old and still largely devoid of vegetation. Drive through the Rhino Valley for possible black rhino sightings. Herds of the famous red elephants: coated in Tsavo's distinctive red laterite soil: roam the park in large numbers.

Morning drive in Tsavo West, then cross through Mtito Andei Gate into Tsavo East. The landscape changes dramatically: red laterite earth, vast open plains, and the iconic Mudanda Rock: a natural water catchment that acts as a magnet for hundreds of elephants during the dry season. Afternoon drive along the Galana River where elephant, buffalo, and crocodile are reliably found.

Early morning game drive along the Galana River: buffalo herds water at dawn and lion are often found on the rocky outcrops. After breakfast, drive to Mombasa (approx. 2 hrs) or Nairobi (approx. 5 hrs). End of services.
