6 Days Loisaba & Solio Conservancy Fly-in Safari

Transfer from your Nairobi hotel or JKIA airport to Wilson Airport for your scheduled morning flight north to Loisaba Conservancy in the Laikipia Plateau. On arrival, be collected by your guide for the drive to camp: a breathtaking approach along the escarpment edge with unhindered views across Laikipia to snow-capped Mount Kenya. Elewana Loisaba Star Beds and Loisaba Tented Camp perch on the rim of the escarpment above two permanent rivers. Wake before dawn to watch the Laikipia sunrise paint the savannah gold. After breakfast, set out on a comprehensive game drive: Loisaba's two permanent rivers and abundant springs attract wildlife year-round. Lions, leopards, elephants, African wild dogs, reticulated giraffes, Grevy's zebra and buffalo all move through the conservancy's grasslands, basalt hills, kopjes and dense riverine forest. After breakfast, depart Loisaba and transfer by road to Solio Game Reserve: a 19,000-acre private sanctuary ringed by 45,000 acres of the Solio Ranch, set in the cool highlands above the Aberdare Range. Solio is internationally recognized as the most successful private rhino breeding programme in Africa. Check in, have lunch, then your first game drive at Solio: a landscape where encounters with up to forty rhinoceros at a time are not unusual. Lions, waterbuck, zebras and impalas accompany the rhinos on the reserve's open grass plateau.

A full day dedicated to Solio's remarkable rhino population: both black and white rhino in extraordinary numbers, alongside an astonishing concentration of large herbivores. Morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles through the plateau grasslands. Optional horse-riding safari among the rhinos and buffalo. Optional visit to a nearby Kenyan coffee plantation for a crop-to-cup experience.
