Fly from Nairobi to Lewa and stay in one place for three nights. Two full days give your guides time to show you the conservancy's rhinos, Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe, and explain the work behind their protection. Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Nairobi – Lewa Conservancy (by flight, approx. 45 min)
Morning flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Lewa Downs airstrip: a scenic flight over the Aberdare Range and the foothills of Mount Kenya. Arrive at your lodge by mid-morning. Settle in and enjoy lunch, then head out for your first afternoon game drive across Lewa's 65,000 acres of pristine wilderness. The conservancy has zero fences and shares borders with the Borana and Ol Pejeta conservancies.
Day 2Lewa – Full Day
A full day at Lewa with morning and afternoon game drives led by a specialist guide with deep knowledge of the conservancy. Lewa is one of Kenya's best places to track black rhino on foot: a thrilling and rare experience. In the afternoon, visit the rhino sanctuary where the conservancy's breeding population grazes peacefully. Optional: sunset horseback ride through the savannah or guided walking safari.
Day 3Lewa – Full Day
Another full day exploring the vast conservancy. Head to the northern sector for Grevy's zebra: hundreds of the world's most endangered zebra species roam freely here alongside the plains game. Look for the rare Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich unique to northern Kenya. Night game drive after dinner: aardvark, bat-eared fox, striped hyena, and serval cat are regularly seen.
Day 4Lewa – Morning Activity – Flight to Nairobi
Final morning walk or game drive at Lewa, perhaps tracking rhino spoor with the conservancy rangers. Farewell breakfast at the lodge before transferring to the airstrip for your flight back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi. End of services.
