Overview
One of Kenya's most unique safari experiences at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge: a series of elevated circular rondavels built on stilts above a waterhole in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, where elephants, buffalos, lions and a procession of nocturnal wildlife gather directly beneath your room each night. Just a short transfer from Nairobi or Mombasa, this is Kenya's most intimate wildlife encounter.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Nairobi / Mombasa – Salt Lick Safari Lodge, Taita Hills
Your driver picks you up from your Nairobi hotel or Mombasa residence and transfers you to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary via the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway. Arrive in time for lunch at Taita Hills Safari Lodge. After lunch, enjoy a relaxed afternoon before an evening game drive through the sanctuary. Then proceed to Salt Lick Safari Lodge for check-in and dinner. As night falls, the floodlit waterhole beneath your stilted rondavel begins to come alive: elephants, buffalo and a stream of nocturnal visitors come to drink directly beneath the lodge.
Day 2Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary – Full Day
After breakfast, carry your swimsuit for a morning game drive through the sanctuary in search of the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino roam these protected hills. After the drive, head to Taita Hills Safari Resort for lunch and an afternoon swim. Relax and enjoy the resort facilities before a guided WW1 heritage tour at the Taita Hills Museum, followed by a sunset game drive back to Salt Lick Lodge for dinner. The waterhole show continues into the night.
Day 3Taita Hills – Final Game Drive – Nairobi / Mombasa
After a final breakfast, enjoy a last game drive through the sanctuary and depart the Taita Hills for Nairobi or Mombasa with an en route lunch stop. Drop-off at your hotel or the airport for your outbound flight or onward journey.
