14 Days Rwanda, Nairobi, Maasai Mara & Zanzibar

Arrive at Kigali International Airport to a warm welcome from your Saringi Tours representative. Transfer to your hotel in this immaculate, car-free city. Settle in and enjoy dinner at leisure.

After breakfast, your guide introduces you to your driver and departs for Musanze. Optional stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a profound historical visit, with lunch en route. Arrive at your lodge in the Virunga foothills for dinner.

Early breakfast at 6:30 am before transfer to the park headquarters for your ranger briefing. Enter the Virunga forest in search of one of the habituated gorilla families. The trek may last 2 to 6 hours. Your reward: a full 60 minutes with mountain gorillas in the wild, watching the silverback lead his family through the ancient forest.

Relaxed breakfast at the lodge, then drive back to Kigali for your afternoon flight to Nairobi. Your Saringi Tours driver meets you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfers you to your hotel for dinner and overnight rest.

After breakfast, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage (open 11 am–noon) to watch orphaned baby elephants being fed and played with by their keepers. Proceed to the Giraffe Centre for a remarkable eye-level encounter with endangered Rothschild giraffes. Lunch at a city restaurant, followed by a scenic drive through Nairobi's leafy Karen suburb and the Karura Forest before returning to the hotel.

Transfer to Wilson Airport for your morning flight to the Maasai Mara, arriving at the bush airstrip by 11 am. Your camp vehicle meets you on the grass strip. Lunch at the camp, then a 2-hour afternoon game drive at 4 pm across the legendary Mara plains.

A full day on the Mara with extensive game drives. The Mara is called the Kingdom of Lions: these powerful hunters dominate the grasslands alongside resident cheetah, leopard and the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra. Picnic lunch by the Mara River, which serves as the dramatic crossing point for the annual migration.

Another full day in the Mara ecosystem. Venture into the private conservancies bordering the reserve for an exclusive, off-road game-drive experience with far fewer vehicles and the possibility of night game drives. Optional: sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the Mara Triangle.

After breakfast, transfer to the Mara airstrip for your flight to Nairobi, connecting with your afternoon flight to Zanzibar. Your driver meets you at Zanzibar's Kisauni Airport and transfers you to your beach hotel. Check in, lunch at the resort, and a relaxed afternoon unwinding from the safari.

The first of four paradise days on this spice island in the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar's pristine white-sand beaches, warm turquoise water and swaying coconut palms are yours to enjoy entirely at your own pace. The resort's facilities, spa, and cuisine make the perfect complement to the wildlife adventure behind you.

Another day of total relaxation at your beach resort. Optional excursions can be arranged at extra cost: UNESCO-listed Stone Town and its Arab Fort, the famous Zanzibar spice tour through nutmeg, cloves and vanilla plantations, Prison Island and its giant tortoises, or a sunrise dolphin excursion at Kizimkazi Bay.

Another day at leisure in Zanzibar: the warm Indian Ocean, the resort pool, a sunset dhow cruise along the coast or a deep-sea fishing excursion. Dinner at the resort.

The last full day on the island. Make the most of the warm sea, the resort amenities, and a final sunset on the beach before the journey home tomorrow.
