About Hwange National Park
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe's largest protected area and one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations, home to an estimated 45,000 elephants (Africa's third-largest population), outstanding lion prides, and the continent's highest density of African wild dogs. The park's artificial waterholes, pumped throughout the dry season, draw extraordinary concentrations of wildlife in spectacular numbers: herds of 500 elephants, lion kills, painted wolves hunting, and the extraordinary spectacle of Hwange at sunset when multiple species converge on water. Hwange is easily combined with Victoria Falls (4 hours by road) and is served by a small airstrip offering direct connections to Harare and Johannesburg.
