Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Nairobi – Maasai Mara (by road, approx. 5 hrs)
Your guide meets you at your Nairobi hotel or the airport and departs south along the Rift Valley escarpment. Arrive at the Mara by lunchtime and settle in before an evening game drive. The Mara delivers immediately: lion cubs at play, cheetahs on the horizon, and the golden evening light over the grass plains.
Day 2Maasai Mara – Full Day
A full day on the Mara with extensive game drives. Morning drive in the reserve or private conservancies, picnic lunch by the Mara River, then afternoon drive into the lion territories. In season (July–October), position at the river crossings to watch wildebeest and zebra brave the Mara River's lurking Nile crocodiles.
Day 3Maasai Mara – Lake Naivasha (approx. 4 hrs)
After breakfast, depart the Mara and drive north to Lake Naivasha, arriving by early afternoon. Check in and rest at your lakeside lodge. In the late afternoon, take a boat ride across to Crescent Island for a walking safari among giraffe, zebra, waterbuck and colobus monkeys with no predators to worry about. Sundowners on the lakeshore as hippos surface at dusk.
Day 4Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park (approx. 5–6 hrs)
After breakfast, check out and drive south through the Great Rift Valley to Amboseli. Arrive in the late afternoon and head straight out for your first game drive with Kilimanjaro's snowy peak rising above the open plains as the day cools.
Day 5Amboseli – Full Day
A full day in Amboseli with picnic lunch boxes and unlimited game drives. Dawn in the Enkongo Narok swamp is one of Africa's great photographic experiences: hundreds of elephants and the mountain above. Walk to Observation Hill for the panorama, then track the resident cheetahs on the open short-grass plains in the afternoon.
Day 6Amboseli – Zanzibar (via Nairobi Airport)
After breakfast, depart Amboseli for Nairobi for your afternoon flight to Zanzibar. Your driver meets you at Zanzibar's Kisauni Airport and transfers you to your beach hotel. Check in, enjoy lunch at the resort and spend the afternoon relaxing beside the Indian Ocean: the perfect transition from dust and game drives to warm water and white sand.
Day 7Zanzibar – Beach Day
The first full day on the island: explore the resort's beach, water sports, spa and exceptional cuisine. The clear, turquoise Indian Ocean awaits with some of the finest snorkelling reefs in East Africa just offshore.
Day 8Zanzibar – Beach Day
Another day of total relaxation. Optional excursions available at extra cost: a day trip to UNESCO-listed Stone Town, the Zanzibar Spice Tour, Prison Island giant tortoises, or a safari blue excursion to Menai Bay for snorkelling, dolphins and a Swahili seafood lunch on a sandbank.
Day 9Zanzibar – Flight to Nairobi (Departure)
An afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi, connecting with your outbound international flight home. End of Saringi Tours services.
