4 Days of Amboseli and Tsavo Safari

Depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive south to Amboseli (approx. 4 hrs). Arrive for a lunch at your lodge, then head out for an afternoon game drive across the swamps and open plains as the elephant herds converge at the water. Kilimanjaro: Africa's highest peak at 5,895m: often emerges through the clouds in the late afternoon, providing extraordinary photographic conditions.

Full day of game drives in Amboseli. Morning drives catch Kilimanjaro cloud-free and the elephants at the swamp edges: bulls, mothers and calves wading through the papyrus. Observation Hill offers a sweeping panoramic view of the entire park. Look for cheetah on the open plains, lion prides at the forest edge, and the huge flocks of yellow-billed storks and sacred ibis overhead.

Early morning drive in Amboseli, then check out after breakfast and drive west to Tsavo West National Park (approx. 3 hrs). Arrive for lunch at your lodge, then begin exploring. Tsavo West's headline attraction is Mzima Springs: a crystal-clear oasis fed by underground Kilimanjaro meltwater, home to hippos and Nile crocodiles visible through an underwater observation chamber. Afternoon drive across the dramatic Shetani lava fields.

Early morning game drive in Tsavo West. The red-dusted elephants of Tsavo are strikingly different from their Amboseli cousins: herds gather at the Kilaguni waterhole at dawn. After breakfast, drive to Nairobi (approx. 4.5 hrs) or Mombasa (approx. 2 hrs) for your onward journey. End of services.
