11 Days Maasai Mara, Bwindi Gorilla Trek & Serengeti Safari

Your guide meets you at your Nairobi hotel or the airport and after a short briefing, you depart south along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara. Arrive by lunchtime at your camp. Settle in and enjoy a relaxed afternoon before an evening game drive from 4 to 6 pm.

A full day on the Mara with extensive game drives in the reserve. The Mara is called the Kingdom of Lions: large prides dominate the plains alongside resident cheetah and leopard. Picnic lunch beside the Mara River. In migration season (July–October), witness the dramatic river crossings where thousands of wildebeest and zebra brave the crocodile-filled Mara River.

Another full day in the Mara ecosystem. Morning drive into the Mara North or Ol Kinyei Conservancy for off-road game viewing and a more exclusive experience. The Mara consistently delivers sightings of all three big cats: a leopard draped in a fig tree, cheetahs coursing across the plains, and lions at a wildebeest kill.

After breakfast, transfer to the Mara airstrip for your morning flight to Entebbe via Kisumu (a brief immigration stop). Connect with your afternoon flight from Entebbe to Kihihi airstrip at Bwindi. Be collected by your lodge vehicle and transferred to your lodge in the ancient forest. The day at leisure: guided community walks are available in the afternoon.

The summit of the safari. Rise early for the park headquarters briefing before entering the dense rainforest on foot. The tracking may take 3 to 8 hours across steep, muddy terrain in the Impenetrable Forest: one of Africa's last true wilderness areas. When you find the gorilla family, the world stops. One hour in their presence: a silverback at rest, a mother and infant feeding, juveniles tumbling in the undergrowth. An experience that changes how you see the world.

A quieter day at Bwindi, allowing time to absorb the extraordinary experience of the previous day. Guided nature walks through the forest reveal the remarkable biodiversity of this UNESCO site: over 350 bird species, 120 mammal species and an extraordinary diversity of butterflies, reptiles and plants. Optional community visit to learn about the Batwa people and their traditional relationship with the forest.

After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi airstrip for your flight to Entebbe, connecting with an afternoon flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, Tanzania. Your driver meets you on arrival and transfers you to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your morning flight to the Serengeti. Arrive by mid-morning and be met by your camp's vehicle for your first game drive across the endless plains as you make your way to the lodge. Lunch at camp, then an afternoon game drive at 4 pm across the central Serengeti: Africa's most iconic landscape.

A full day in the Serengeti with pre-breakfast and afternoon game drives in the Great Serengeti ecosystem: Africa's largest savannah and home to 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebra. The Serengeti hosts Africa's largest lion population, enormous elephant herds and massive cheetah concentrations. Balloon safari option at dawn.

Another full day in the Serengeti. Drive north towards the Mara River area to follow the migration if in season, or head south to the Ndutu plains for calving season (January–March). The sheer scale and density of wildlife in the Serengeti is unlike anywhere else on earth.

Rise before dawn for a final game drive on the Serengeti plains: the most magnificent light of the day. Return to camp for breakfast, then pack and check out with picnic lunch boxes for a short drive to the airstrip. Your morning flight departs for Arusha.
