Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Arrive Kigali
Arrive at Kigali International Airport. Our representative welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel. Optional: brief Kigali city orientation in the evening.
Day 2Kigali – Musanze / Volcanoes NP (approx. 2 hrs)
After breakfast, optional short city tour with a stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Drive north to Musanze. Stop at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about conservation. Dinner at your mountain lodge.
Day 3Gorilla Trekking, Volcanoes NP – Cross into Uganda
Early morning breakfast and park briefing. Trek into Volcanoes National Park to spend one hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family in the Virunga bamboo and Hagenia forest. Return to the trailhead and check out of your lodge. Drive to the Cyanika border, cross into Uganda and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for dinner and overnight.
Day 4Mountain Gorilla Trekking, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Morning park briefing at the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters. Enter the ancient forest with a ranger guide to find your assigned gorilla family. Bwindi is home to roughly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas. The terrain is steep and dense, making the encounter all the more rewarding. Spend one hour with the gorillas. Return for lunch and celebration dinner.
Day 5Bwindi – Entebbe – Departure
After breakfast, drive to Entebbe International Airport (approx. 8 hrs via Kabale and Mbarara) or take a charter flight from Kihihi airstrip for a shorter journey. Arrive in time for evening international departures.

Your route covers Kigali, Volcanoes NP (Rwanda) & Bwindi (Uganda). The arrival arrangements on Day 1 and the final-day transfer form part of this itinerary; share your flight times with us before booking so we can check the connections.
Entry documents: check the passport, visa and entry-permission requirements for Rwanda and Uganda before travel. Requirements depend on your passport and can change. We confirm the planned crossings and arrival points with your itinerary.
This journey starts in Kigali and finishes in Entebbe. The Rwanda gorilla trek is followed by the border crossing into Uganda and a second gorilla trek in Bwindi. Both trekking permits are listed in the inclusions; arrange your outbound flight from Entebbe.
Allow time for the road journeys shown in the daily plan. Driving times are estimates, with stops, road conditions and border formalities affecting the day. Tell us about mobility needs or a preference for shorter travel days while we plan the route.
Trekking is planned on Day 3 and Day 4. Confirm the required permits before fixing your travel dates. Forest conditions and walking times vary; bring broken-in boots and rain protection, and tell us about any fitness or mobility concerns.
