Experience the best of Kenya and Tanzania attractions on this 10-day Kenya and Tanzania safari. Begin with a safari in the Masai Mara, home to the Big Five and the Great Migration. Cross into Tanzania and spend two nights in the legendary Serengeti, famous for its vast plains teeming with wildlife and endless horizons.

Next, transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater for 2 nights, where you’ll descend into a UNESCO World Heritage Site bustling with diverse animals in a stunning volcanic caldera.

Finally, return to Kenya game drives in Amboseli National Park, where huge amazing herds of elephants roam against the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Safari starts with a trip to Masai Mara

Our guide/driver will meet you at your hotel or airport on arrival and after a short briefing, depart for Masai Mara. Drive south along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to arrive in Maasai Mara by lunchtime. After lunch, relax at the camp/lodge before going for an evening game drive from 4 to 6 p.m. Note: You will have 2-3 stops on this day.

Day 2 & 3: Explore the Big Five and the annual wildebeest migration in the Masai Mara

Spend these days on extensive game drives in the Mara Reserve. If you’re looking to see Big Cats, the Masai Mara National Reserve is an excellent place to spot them. The Mara has been called the Kingdom of Lions and these powerful hunters dominate these grasslands. Cheetahs are also common in the Mara, as are hyenas and smaller predators such as jackals. You’ll have an excellent opportunity to spot them while enjoying game drives across the Mara plains. Picnic lunch will be at a good spot by the Mara River. You can opt for full-day game drives in the park or alternate other days with morning and afternoon game drives with part of the day spent at the camp/lodge enjoying its facilities.

Optional activities: Hot air balloon ride, Cultural Masai village visit, bush walks, sundowners, bush breakfast or dinner (all at extra cost)

Day 4: Tanzania Awaits

Have an early breakfast then immediately depart for Serengeti passing through the Isebania border. Carry a packed lunch with you from the lodge because you will arrive at the park past lunch hour. Have a game drive as you enter the park en route to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Alternatively, take a mid-morning flight to Serengeti from Mara to arrive by early afternoon ($678 per person)

Day 5: Exploring the Vast landscape and wildlife of Serengeti

Spend the day with a full-day game drive within the Great Serengeti. Serengeti is the home to Africa’s Big Five. There will be a picnic lunch during the day. Alternatively, have morning & afternoon game drives on one day and full-day game drives on the next.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro

After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater with a short stop at Olduvai Gorge. Arrive in Ngorongoro and check in at the lodge. There will be no other game drive so spend the remaining hours at leisure enjoying walking around the surrounding areas and exploring the lodge’s facilities. Ngorongoro is quite unique as its physical protection from man’s natural beauty ranks it among the most pristine wilderness on the earth. It has been also declared a world heritage and is the largest intact crater in the world.

Day 7: Wildlife Haven of Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, check out of the lodge with a picnic lunch and depart for a tour of the crater floor. Spend the day within the crater and have lunch at one of the famous picnic spots in the park. In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge.

Day 8: Back to Kenya with transfer to Amboseli

After breakfast, depart to the Namanga border. Clear customs and immigration formalities then join your Kenya tour driver and proceed to Amboseli. Once you arrive at the park, you will enjoy a game drive as you head to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon game drive is at 4 p.m. Look out for large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, gazelles, wild dogs, and the magnificent view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Overnight: Ol Tukai Lodge or Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge/ Tulia Camp Amboseli / Tawi Lodge

Day 9: Explore huge herds of elephants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro

Spend this day with morning and afternoon game drives with a stay in the camp in between. Explore Amboseli with unlimited game drives, watch the animals from the observation hill, and if lucky to see Mount Kilimanjaro reveal itself, make sure to take a photo.

Day 10: End of your African Safari

Have another last game drive then return to the lodge for breakfast. You will depart for Nairobi thereafter, arrive, and have lunch before dropping off at your hotel or airport.
