This is a comprehensive 14-day safari adventure through Kenya’s top tourist destinations. Begin at Samburu National Reserve, home to some rare wildlife species—Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Next, visit Sweetwaters and Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where game drives are complemented by visits to a rhino sanctuary and the famous chimpanzee sanctuary. Afterward travel to Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its pink flamingos and the chance to spot rhinos, lions, and leopards against the stunning backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment.

Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Nairobi – Transfer to Samburu (Approx. 6 hours)

You will be picked from your Nairobi hotel or the airport on arrival by our driver. Immediately depart for Samburu passing through the central highland, and the equator to Samburu land. Arrive with an introductory game drive en route to the lodge/camp for lunch. After lunch, relax before going on an evening game drive.

Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp or Samburu Sopa Lodge

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve– Full day

After breakfast, depart with lunch boxes to spend the entire day exploring Samburu on extensive game drives. Alternatively, have morning and afternoon game drives in search of unique northern Kenya species such as the reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra, and the long-necked gerenuk. Samburu National Reserve is characterized by desert landscape; dusty red plains broken by thorny scrub, featuring dramatic views of tabletop Mt Ol Olokwe on the horizon.

Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp /Samburu Sopa Lodge / Elephant Bedroom

Day 3: Samburu – Transfer to Sweet Waters (Approx. 4 hours)

Have an early breakfast and check out. Drive north, to view Mt. Ololokwe, a few kilometers away. After a photo session, turn and drive to Ol Pejeta, to arrive in time for lunch at Sweet Waters. This is a beautiful private game reserve and home to rare species such as Beisa oryx, Rothschild’s giraffe and black rhino. Game drives here reveal the full range of African wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and hippos.

Overnight: Sweet Waters Serena Camp / Kicheche Camp/ Morani Wing

Day 4: Ol Pejeta – Transfer to Nakuru (Approx. 3 hours)

After breakfast, exit Ol Pejeta with a short game. Depart for Lake Nakuru to arrive before lunch time. Have a short game drive en route to the lodge for lunch. Relax before going on an evening game drive. Look out for flamingos, the black rhinoceros, buffalos, Rothschild giraffes and more wildlife that inhabit this park.

Overnight: Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge/ The Cliff

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Transfer to Maasai Mara (Approx. 5 hours)

After breakfast depart Lake Nakuru for Maasai to arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive is at 4 to 6pm.

Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp or Sarova Mara Game Camp/ Mara Serena Safari Lodge/ Mara Ngenche

Day 6 & 7: Maasai Mara

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes and spend the day on extensive game drives in the Mara Reserve. If you’re looking to see Big Cats, the Masai Mara National Reserve is an excellent place to spot them. The Mara has been called the Kingdom of Lions and these powerful hunters dominate these grasslands. Cheetahs are also a common sight in the Mara, as are hyena and smaller predators such as jackals. Picnic lunch by the banks of Mara River. Alternatively, have morning and afternoon game drives

Day 8: Masai Mara – Transfer to Lake Naivasha (Approx. 6 hours)

Have breakfast then head out to Lake Naivasha with a game drive as you depart. Arrive in time for lunch and a short rest after. Later, go for a boat ride on Lake Naivasha to Crescent Island and a guided nature walk.

Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge/ Enashipai Resort and Spa/ Chui Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 9: Lake Naivasha – Transfer to Amboseli (Approx. 5-6 hours)

After breakfast, depart Naivasha for Amboseli National Park with enroute lunch. Enjoy an introductory game drive on arrival at Amboseli. Look out for large herds of elephants, lions, leopard, gazelles, wild dogs, and the magnificent view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Later head to booked camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Amboseli – Full Day

After breakfast, head out with picnic lunch boxes for a full day in the park. Explore Amboseli with unlimited game drives, watch the animals from the observation hill and if lucky to see Mount Kilimanjaro reveal itself, make sure to take a photo.

Overnight: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge / O Tukai Lodge/ Tawi Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 11: Amboseli – Transfer to Tsavo West (Approx. 2 hours)

Have breakfast then depart for Tsavo West to arrive before lunchtime. Enjoy a game drive en-route camp for check-in and lunch. In the afternoon visit Mzima Springs where you may view the crocodiles and hippos swimming underwater.

Overnight: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge / Finch Hattons

Day 12: Tsavo West – Transfer to Tsavo East (Approx. 3 hours)

After Breakfast, have a short game drive before departing for Tsavo East. You will arrive by mid-morning. Have a game drive till lunch hour where you will head to booked camp/lodge for check-in and lunch. The afternoon game drive is at 3/4 p.m.

Overnight: Ashnil Aruba Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 13: Tsavo East- Full Day

Spend this day in search of Elephants, the man-eaters of Tsavo, Buffalos, Cheetahs, Giraffe, Antelopes etc. Visit the famous Aruba dam where lots of game can be found especially during the dry season as they come to drink water.

Overnight: Ashnil Aruba Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

 

Day 14: Tsavo East– Transfer to Nairobi (Approx. 5 hours)

Have breakfast then depart for Nairobi to arrive at lunch time. Have lunch at a city restaurant and later drop off at the hotel/ airport for your outbound flight.
